Cardano Hard Fork: ADA Surges 9% as Upgrade Nears Key Vote

ADAUSD Cardano (ADA/USD) $0.15 Mkt Cap P/E Yield 52W High

Will the upcoming Cardano Hard Fork finally propel ADA ahead of its smart-contract rivals, or is the rally just temporary hype?

The native token of the network, ADA, has reacted positively to the technical progress. During intraday trading on Monday, ADA/USD jumped by 8.98% to reach $0.16, up from its previous close of $0.15. This upward momentum reflects growing investor confidence as the network edges closer to a major architectural shift.

What Does the Cardano Hard Fork Change?

The upcoming van Rossem upgrade, which will transition the network to Protocol Version 11, is designed to bring substantial technical improvements to the blockchain. According to technical specifications released by Intersect, the intra-era upgrade will significantly boost the performance of Plutus, Cardano’s smart contract platform.

Additionally, the Cardano Hard Fork will improve ledger consistency and enhance node security. Developers can also look forward to enhanced cryptographic primitives, Verifiable Random Function (VRF) key uniqueness, and updated reference input rules. These changes are expected to make the network faster, more secure, and highly competitive against rival smart-contract platforms like Ethereum and Solana.

How Is the Voting Progressing for ADA?

For the upgrade to be officially ratified, it must pass strict on-chain governance thresholds. The latest data shows that the community is highly supportive. Decentralized Representatives (DReps) have registered a 76.81% approval rate, comfortably exceeding the 60% threshold. Similarly, Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) have reached 52.76% support, passing their 51% requirement.

However, one final hurdle remains. The Constitutional Committee (CC) must reach a 5-out-of-7 voting threshold. Currently, four CC members have voted in favor, meaning just one more positive vote or an abstention is required to trigger the upgrade. If the conditions are met during epoch 642 today, the upgrade will move forward. If not, the final ratification date will push to July 18, with potential enactment dates scheduled for July 18 or July 23.

Ecosystem readiness is already extremely high. Approximately 93% of the current epoch’s block production is occurring on Protocol Version 11-compatible software. Furthermore, exchange readiness has reached 84.15% of tracked liquidity, and the Hard Fork Working Group has officially recommended ratification.

How Do Leadership Rumors Impact Cardano?

Beyond the technical milestones of the Cardano Hard Fork, the ecosystem has recently had to deal with social media noise. Rumors circulated that founder Charles Hoskinson was planning to step away from the project. Hoskinson quickly pushed back against these claims, confirming his ongoing commitment to the ecosystem.

Founder-driven blockchain networks often experience short-term volatility due to leadership gossip. By addressing these rumors directly, Hoskinson has cleared the air, allowing the market to focus on actual development milestones. For long-term investors, the transition toward decentralized governance is a sign that the network is maturing beyond its reliance on a single figurehead.

While traditional Wall Street investment banks like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley do not officially rate ADA, crypto-focused analysts have noted that successful governance transitions are crucial for institutional adoption. If the network can seamlessly execute technical upgrades while reducing leadership drama, it will present a much stronger case for institutional portfolios looking for decentralized alternatives.

Conclusion

The ledger’s priority rules dictate that the hard fork ratification will take precedence over all other active governance actions. Any simultaneous proposals will be temporarily delayed to ensure a smooth transition to Protocol Version 11.
