NVIDIA Market Cap Rises 2.1% to Reclaim Crown Over Apple

NVDA NVIDIA $205.80 -1.49 (-0.72%) After Hours $4,923.64T Mkt Cap 15.8 P/E 49.00% Yield $236.54 52W High

Can the soaring NVIDIA Market Cap permanently hold off Apple and AMD, or will rising chip production costs halt the rally?

How Is the NVIDIA Market Cap Holding Off Apple?

The shifting dynamics at the top of the market show how volatile the race for AI dominance has become. While Apple briefly overtook the chipmaker on July 17, a broader recovery in semiconductor equities pushed the **NVIDIA Market Cap** back to the top spot. Shares of the graphics processing unit (GPU) giant rose 2.10% to close at $206.93, supported by dip-buyers stepping back into the tech sector after a brief correction.

Wall Street analysts remain highly optimistic about the company’s long-term trajectory. Joseph Moore of Morgan Stanley continues to rank the stock as one of the most attractive names in the semiconductor sector, even ahead of memory manufacturers. Mizuho Securities also recently ranked the chipmaker at the top of its global technology list, ahead of Alphabet. Meanwhile, KeyBanc raised its price target for the stock to $330, maintaining an “Overweight” rating, and China Renaissance initiated coverage with a “Buy” rating and a $319 price target. These bullish outlooks reflect strong underlying fundamentals, including an 85% year-over-year revenue surge to $81.6 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2027.

Why Is NVIDIA Investing in Nebius Group?

To maintain its dominant market position, the chipmaker is expanding its reach into the neocloud ecosystem. A recent Schedule 13G filing with the SEC revealed that the company now holds a passive 9.3% stake in Nebius Group, an Amsterdam-based AI cloud infrastructure provider. The position comprises approximately 22.26 million shares, including 1.19 million directly owned shares and over 21 million shares tied to a pre-funded warrant.

This strategic alliance is designed to diversify the AI cloud landscape. By supporting independent neocloud operators like Nebius Group, the company aims to prevent a concentration of buying power among the three major hyperscalers. This diversified ecosystem ensures a broader customer base for its high-end GPUs. CEO Jensen Huang previously praised Nebius Group as a “world-class AI cloud,” signaling deep operational collaboration in AI factory design and fleet management.

Can AMD Challenge NVIDIA in the AI Server Market?

While the **NVIDIA Market Cap** continues to lead the tech sector, competition is intensifying. Rival Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) recently unveiled its new “Helios” rack-scale AI system, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Grace Blackwell and upcoming Vera Rubin architectures. Helios is scheduled for delivery to major players like Microsoft and Meta later this year.

Currently, the market share gap remains vast, with the market leader controlling over 95% of the data center GPU market compared to AMD’s 4.5%. However, some industry experts suggest AMD could eventually capture up to 25% of the market by offering more cost-effective alternatives. Additionally, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is reportedly planning to raise its advanced chipmaking prices by up to 10% next year, which could pressure margins across the entire semiconductor sector.

To counter this threat, the market leader showcased its technological edge at SIGGRAPH 2026, introducing its new DLSS 5 rendering technology and the Cosmos 3 Edge platform for real-time robotics.
