Micron Record +5.1%: AI Memory Boom Lifts MU Again

MU Micron Technology, Inc. $917.51 +52.05 (+6.01%) Market Open $977.44T Mkt Cap 5.7 P/E 6.00% Yield $1,255.00 52W High

Can Micron Record momentum keep climbing as AI memory demand tightens supply and Wall Street starts chasing even bigger targets?

Why is Micron Record back in focus?

The latest move in MU reflects more than momentum. Investors are re-rating memory as a structural AI winner rather than a classic boom-bust semiconductor trade. High-bandwidth memory, or HBM, has become essential for advanced AI accelerators, especially systems built around NVIDIA GPUs. Micron has already said its HBM capacity for 2026 is sold out, with demand visibility extending into 2027.

That backdrop helps explain why the stock has exploded higher in 2026. Market enthusiasm intensified after Micron crossed a $1 trillion market value for the first time this past week, briefly joining one of Wall Street’s most exclusive clubs. The rally has also had index-level impact, with Micron becoming a meaningful driver of the S&P 500’s latest gains.

What changed at Micron Technology?

The fundamental story has improved just as fast as the chart. In the fiscal quarter ended in February, Micron reported revenue growth of 74% and net income that more than tripled year over year. Management also said conditions for HBM, DRAM, and NAND should remain tight well beyond calendar 2026, supporting pricing power across the portfolio.

Micron has also started 1-alpha DRAM manufacturing at its Manassas, Virginia facility as part of a broader $200 billion U.S. manufacturing push. That matters because supply remains constrained industrywide, with Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix all facing exceptionally strong demand. As hyperscalers including Alphabet and Meta Platforms ramp AI infrastructure spending, memory is becoming one of the sector’s tightest bottlenecks.

The company’s next major catalyst is its fiscal third-quarter report on June 24. Consensus expectations call for another sharp acceleration in both revenue and earnings, reinforcing the idea that Micron Record gains are increasingly backed by real cash generation rather than speculation alone.

How far can analyst targets go?

Wall Street’s target revisions have become a second major catalyst. UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri lifted his price target to $1,625 from $535, one of the boldest calls in large-cap tech this year. Bank of America also raised its target to $950, while Barclays increased its target by 74% and argued Micron may be evolving beyond its historically cyclical profile.

The bullish case centers on strategic supply agreements, stronger long-term earnings visibility, and a memory market transformed by AI demand. UBS believes Micron could generate annual earnings per share above $100 across 2027 to 2029 even under a moderate downcycle. That would represent a dramatic shift for a company that was near breakeven only two years ago.

Not everyone agrees. Morningstar has warned that the current wave could reverse over time and has a far lower fair value estimate. Still, the direction of travel on Wall Street remains firmly positive, and Micron Record trading has become a proxy for investor conviction in the broader AI hardware buildout.

How does Micron compare with peers?

Micron’s strength is also spilling into adjacent names. Storage companies such as Western Digital and SanDisk have benefited from the same AI infrastructure narrative, while Apple and other mega-caps remain indirect beneficiaries of stronger semiconductor investment and enterprise demand. Unlike consumer-tech rallies, however, this one is rooted in data-center buildouts and multi-year capex commitments.

Related Coverage: Earlier this week, stocknewsroom examined whether Micron Record +4% as Stock Nears $1,000 on AI Memory Boom marked the start of another leg higher. That piece highlighted the same core question now facing investors: whether tightening memory supply and AI demand can keep outrunning valuation concerns as MU approaches four digits.

AI-driven demand for high-bandwidth memory has structurally transformed the chipmaker’s earnings trajectory.

Conclusion

Micron Record remains one of the clearest expressions of the AI infrastructure trade on Wall Street. If June earnings confirm tight supply, rising free cash flow, and sustained HBM demand, MU could keep leading the semiconductor complex into the second half of 2026.
